Why do Korean students mistake the subject, he and she?
Recently I'm always tired and eager to go to bed. If I was in Korea, many
people would say that you might be pregnant. But here is India. Nobody tells me
so I'm very relaxed, even if I look lazy.
From today, Dennis has decided to speak English in the dormitory. So I
cooperated with him willingly. And then I realized that he mixed he and she.
When he was wrong, I corrected "He" or "She" like a
teacher.
He seemed to be ashamed of his mistakes and told me that he couldn't understand to be feeling odd. I answered "No." and that mistake is a regular thing in PSP.
We talked about why we do this. I thought that the main reason is that we hardly have had opportunities to speak English in our life.
The second reason is that we have only concentrated on verbs (especially tenses) because a verb is the most difficult and mistaken part in Korean. So we might be careless in subjects.
In fact, a subject is the first word and we must not mistake it. But English for us has been one of the chief subjects of our whole examinations.
These thoughts came from my real situation and it might be proof that I can't speak English spontaneously and I'm still thinking in Korean. I will try to speak English more quickly, even the hes and shes.
